About the baker, Munita Kaur
of The Little Cake House
Cooking and baking had always been a passion, however, my journey into the world of professional baking and decorating started 13 years ago when I decided to bake my son’s 2nd birthday cake. Although my baking skills were on par my decorating skills left much to be desired. I had never worked with fondant before and let’s just say my first encounter with it was less than a slam dunk! The whole experience left me determined to master this cake decorating thing! I got hooked on cake decorating books (I have a whole library of them now) and through trial and much error I slowly but surely emerged to be the baker and decorator I am today.
Although I am predominately a self-taught baker/decorator, along the way I have had much help from wonderful people who have shared their skills with me either in person, through their books and online. I thank them all and remain an eager student ever willing to learn the next new thing.
I have now been baking and decorating cakes professionally for the last 10 years having created countless cakes, cookies, cupcakes and other desserts for my clients. What I have learnt most over the years now are my 2 operating principles: first, only the best ingredients make the best cakes and second, that it is as (if not more) important for my cakes to taste as good as they look.
